The heartwood is brownish, reddish-brown, orange-brown and sometimes mahogany-coloured or tending towards purple. Older trees produce a very beautiful burl wood of orange-yellow colour with brown-red veins of various shades. The annual rings are very narrow and, depending on the growing area, both fine and coarse wavy. The wood is therefore very decorative.
